1COR 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1COR 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God
is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1COR 1:31 That, according as it is written, He that
glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
No matter what we accomplish we are not to glory in His
presence. The reason is that without Him we can do nothing.
Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that
abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me
ye can do nothing.
It is only thru Him that we can truly do anything that
will matter for eternity. It is only because He went to the cross and
saved us. It is His righteousness and His redemption. It is His work
and He only allows us the privilege of being used as a tool.
1COR 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the
world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to
confound the things which are mighty;
1COR 1:28 And base things of the world, and things
which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to
nought things that are:
God has chosen the foolish and the weak to confound the
wise and mighty. This way He gets all the glory.
He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Let us be always mindful that whatever success we have
in serving Christ is only because of Him. It is His work done in His
Power. Give all the praise and glory to Him.
Thought On This Chapter
1COR 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the
grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
I believe that Christians should be a very thankful
people. Paul here is thankful and prays to God thanking Him for the grace
that had been given to the Corinthian believers. Paul was not only
thankful for what God had done for him. Paul was also thankful for what
God had done for others. He thanked God on behalf of the Corinthian's.
We should pray for others and when God answers the prayer then we should take
time to pray and thank Him.
And notice who Paul gives all the credit to. "for
the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;"
1COR 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in
all utterance, and in all knowledge;
It is Jesus who gives us grace. It is He who does
the work in our lives. We ought never think too highly of ourselves.
Without Jesus we can do nothing. When He does a work of grace in our lives
(no matter how big or small) we should realize that God is the one that did it.
Everything we have is because of Him. We need to realize our great
dependence upon Him, and then act accordingly. And we should never forget
to tell Him thank you.
1COR 1:1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
1COR 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:
1COR 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1COR 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
1COR 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
1COR 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
1COR 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1COR 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1COR 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
1COR 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1COR 1:11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
1COR 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
1COR 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
1COR 1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
1COR 1:15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
1COR 1:16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
1COR 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
1COR 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1COR 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1COR 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1COR 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1COR 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1COR 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
1COR 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1COR 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1COR 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1COR 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1COR 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1COR 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1COR 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1COR 1:31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
General Information About the Book of 1 Corinthians.
This book was written to correct errors in the local
Church and to deal with questions that the Corinthian believers had.
The main theme of the book is trouble in the Church.
The
key words are divisions and contentions.
The key verse
is 1 Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all
to the glory of God.
If Christians would really get a
hold of that verse, then there would not be any trouble in the Church.
1COR 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son
Jesus Christ our Lord.
In my opinion this
is what is sometimes called a mountain top verse.
God is faithful.
What a wonderful truth. Whatever God
promises you can absolutely count on Him doing because God is faithful!
God says you have eternal life if you believe with a repentant heart and call
upon Him to save you. So you cannot loose your salvation because God is
faithful!
God says He will never leave you.
So you can count on it because God is faithful!
You can count on all things working together for good if you love God and are
called according to His purpose.
You can
count on Jesus coming back.
You can count
on God one day throwing that awful wicked Satan into a lake of fire.
You can count on God hearing your prayers.
You can count on God one day establishing His kingdom.
You can trust God with your soul.
You can
count on every single promise in the Bible.
Simply put, you can count on God because He is faithful!
