Christ and Sin

1 Christ came to take away sin

Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

He did not come to be a good man, or a good teacher, or a good prophet, to set a good example, or make sure that everyone can have a Lexus. He came to take away sin, and not just the sin of a select few. He came to take away the sin of the world! He took it all upon Himself. Therefore anyone can get saved. It truly is whosoever will may come.

2 It is Christ's shed blood that gives redemption, the forgiveness of sin.

Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

It is the shed blood of Christ that cleanses from sin. And without His shed blood there would be no remission of sin. Yes the shed blood of Christ is vital. You must apply the shed blood to the door posts of your heart because redemption is through His blood. You apply the blood by faith. By accepting the atonement of His shed blood that He shed at the cross for your sins. We can't ignore the blood. Churches are taking the blood of their hymnals. And many Churches that still have the blood in their hymnals have taken it out of their preaching. Never be ashamed of the shed blood of Christ. He shed it so that you could be redeemed.

3 Christ had no sin of His own

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

4 How Christ had no sin of His own.

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Adam brought sin into the world when he disobeyed God, and the result is that all men die. The reason that men die is that they all have sin. This is the sin nature.

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Adams disobedience made all men sinners. Adam's sin nature passed upon all men. He passed it thru his seed when he had children.

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

Adam was created in the image of God. Adam was created without a sin nature.

Gen 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son] in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

After Adam sinned, notice that his son Seth is created in Adam's image instead of God's image. That is because his son Seth inherited Adam's sin nature. The sin nature was passed from the man Adam to his child and Seth passed it to his children and it has continually been passed down all the way to you and me.

Anyone who knows the facts of life knows that the seed is with the man. But watch real close what God said when He first promised to send a savior.

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

God said that the serpent will bruise His heel, but it (speaking of Christ) will bruise the serpent's head. The bruising of the heel is temporary, but the bruising of the head is permanent. The bruising of the head is fatal. This is talking about what happened on the cross. But what I want you to pay close attention to here for the purpose of this lesson is that God said that the coming savior would come from HER seed. This is a reference to the virgin birth of Christ.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Later on God promised again that Christ would be virgin born.

Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Luk 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.

And it came to pass just as God said a virgin gave birth to the savior.

Luk 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

Mary confirmed that this is true, she said "seeing I know not a man" She had never had sex.

So put it all together. Adam got a sin nature when he sinned, and he passed it on thru his seed. So if Jesus had a human father, then He would have had inherited this sin nature to. But the Bible is clear that Jesus had no sin of His own. If He had sin of His own then His sacrifice would not have been accepted. His sacrifice would have been stained with His own sin.

Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;

Christ was offered to bear our sins and He could only do this because He was sinless. And to be sinless He had to be born of a virgin. Not born of man's seed.

This is why Satan hates the teaching of a virgin birth. Satan wants you to believe that Jesus had a human father and therefore sin. This is why many of the false Bible versions will replace the word virgin with maid. Now a maid is not the same thing as a virgin. If Christ was born of a maid, then He would have had a sin nature of His own and He would have been in need of a savior Himself! And to be even more deceptive Satan will only take the virgin birth out in some places but leave it in others. This is the way Satan works, he causes confusion, he likes to corrupt the word of God a little here and a little there, then wait and come out with another new perversion and corrupt it some more. Do not be deceived, tell Satan NO and throw your NIV in the garbage where it belongs.

And if you have not yet accepted Christ as your savior, you can accept His sacrifice for you because He went to the cross to bear your sin. And His sacrifice was accepted because Christ was without sin.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

All you have to do is receive His gift of righteousness by praying and accepting Him as your personal savior.
