God and Sin
1 God hates sin.
Deu 25:16 For all that do such things, [and] all that do unrighteously, [are] an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
Pro 6:16 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him: Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, Pro 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, Pro 6:19 A false witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
God cannot stand sin in any way shape or form. Look at some of the things in that list again. A proud look, a lying tongue, wicked imaginations, people who are swift to do mischief, a false witness, and number seven which is said to be an abomination to God, a person who causes discord among the brethren. And yet we are not going to warn Christians about how God feels about sin in many churches. Something is wrong with the preachers.
2 God marks sin.
Job 10:14 If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.
Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Make no mistake God marks your sin and He will not acquit you from it, unless you confess it to Him and put it under the blood of Christ.
3 Sin provokes God to jealousy.
1Ki 14:22 And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
4 Sin provokes God to anger.
1Ki 16:2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;
God will punish sin. Jer 16:18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.
Isa 13:11 And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Amo 3:2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
No amount of good works is going to make up for your sin. God is righteous and just, therefore He must punish sin. Sin must be paid for. Now you can pay for it yourself. That will take you eternity in hell. Or you can let Christ be your subsititute. He took your punishment and paid for your sin on the cross. God the son endured separation from God the father so that you would not have to endure separation from God in a lake of fire.
5 God will forgive sin
Exo 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty];
Dan 9:9 To the Lord our God [belong] mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
He has forgiveness for all, even though we have rebelled against Him.
Mic 7:18 Who [is] a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth [in] mercy.
No matter what you have done God will pardon your iniquity, because he delights in mercy.
6 God can forgive any sin
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
God can take the darkest of sins and make them white as snow.
7 God is the only one who can forgive sins.
Mar 2:7 Why doth this [man] thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Why not take God up on His offer to forgive your sin? All you need to do is pray to Him, confess your sin, and ask Him to save you.
