Thought on This Chapter
MT 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little
children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples
rebuked them.
MT 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and
forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
MT 19:15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed
thence.
Trying to stop the children from coming to Jesus is a
wicked thing. The disciples did not want the children to come to Jesus.
But Jesus said, "forbid them not, to come unto me: for such is the kingdom of
heaven." The disciples did not hate children. I think they thought
that the children were too young to understand and that the teachings of Jesus
was for the adults. Or they might have thought that it was a waste of
Jesus' time. Or that His time would be better spent with them. What
ever their reason was, they were wrong. Jesus tells them to let them come.
Jesus loves little children to.
Jesus uses the word suffer in verse 14. If you
have ever been involved in a children's ministry, you understand that statement.
Not that it is a horrible experience, far from it. Being involved in a
children's ministry is a blessing. It is a privilege. But if you are
going to be involved in a children's ministry, you are going to have to put up
with some things.
Children get out of hand from time to time. They
don't always behave like you want them to. Some kids are dirty and smell
terrible. They will try your patience. But it does not matter,
you are to bring them to Jesus anyway.
There is one place in every church that can use more
workers and that is the children's ministry. Put up with some things, roll
up your sleeves and get busy. It is a sad thing to me when a church is not
going out trying to bring in bus kids. Something is wrong with a church
like that.
Thought On This Chapter
MT 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not
read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
MT 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave
father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one
flesh?
MT 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one
flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
God created man and woman. He created them to
join together in marriage. A man is to leave his parents and join to his
wife and they are to be one flesh. No my money your money. They are
not to be divided. Instead they are to be one. Two people joined
together to pull one load. They are to help each other, care for each
other, and love each other as if the other person is actually a part of them.
A man's wife is to be more important to him than his family, his job, or
anything else (except God). Two people who are joined like they are sup
post to be, hurt when the other one hurts, is sad when the other one is sad.
If you enter into the other's hurts, then you would never want to hurt the other
because you would be hurting yourself.
One of the problems is that people marry out of
selfishness. To them it is all about what I can get, my needs, my feelings
and so on. That is not what marriage is about. It is about joining
with someone else for life to honor them and help them and cherish them. I
hope you understand this statement. Marriage is more about your partner than
about you!
Marriage is a God instituted, God ordained,
institution. And those entering into marriage need to realize that God had
joined them together, therefore they are to stay together. God's way is
until death do you part.
And of course marriage is only between a man and a
woman. Anything else is unnatural, unholy, ungodly, and in rebellion to
God's clear instructions.

MT 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
MT 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
MT 19:7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
MT 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
MT 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
MT 19:10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
MT 19:11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
MT 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
MT 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
MT 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

MT 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
MT 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
MT 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
MT 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
MT 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
MT 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
MT 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
MT 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
MT 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
MT 19:25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
MT 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
MT 19:27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
MT 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
MT 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
MT 19:30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Once again the Pharisees try to trap Jesus with the
law. This time they bring up divorce. If Jesus answered no it is not
lawful to put away a wife for any reason, then they would bring up the law of
Moses. Thereby trapping Jesus in teaching something against the law.
If Jesus said yes, they could bring up situations where it would clearly be
wrong.
Jesus silenced them with the fact that Moses gave that
instruction because of the hardness of their hearts. Jesus also goes on to
tell them that divorce is only ok in cases of fornication.
The rich young ruler did not get saved because of his
money. He trusted in and loved his money more than he trusted in and loved
Jesus.
You might have to forsake houses or your family to
follow Jesus, but Jesus tells us that we will receive a hundred fold for it in
the end. Whatever we go thru for Jesus, no matter how bad, it will be worth
it in the end.
