General Information About the Book of Psalms.
The Psalms are considered poetry and are therefore
organized with the Poetry books of the O.T.
Where is the Rhyme you say?
Hebrew poetry is much different than ours. It has
to do with the arrangement according to grammar or thought and not sound.
One kind of arrangement is synonymous. In this
arrangement the same idea is stated in different ways back to back.
Examples of this are Psalm 19:1, Psalm 3:1, and Psalm 24:1
Another type of arrangement is contrasting ideas are
set side by side. Examples are Psalm 7:9, Psalm 11:5, and the entire Psalm
1
Another type of arrangement is where a thought is given
and then expanded upon. Examples of this are Psalm 1:2 and Psalm 29:1.
